Background
Reid & Harrison have been in the business of successfully pumping
Liquid/Solid slurries for over 50 years.
For non-clogging and minimal maintenance the Yardmaster is Number
One !!
One of the most difficult problems put to Reid & Harrison
was to shift chicken waste from a nearby chicken abattoir.
|
| . |
|
The waste, to be pumped by a Yardmaster pump, included chicken
feathers, feet, offal and reject whole birds.
The problem was solved by the Heavy Duty Yardmaster with a 150mm
inlet delivering through a 100mm outlet hose. The solids were screened
off and the water recycled on a daily basis. This difficult pumping
operation requires negligible maintenance and blockages are very rare.
This chicken pumping exercise is testimony to the diverse use Yardmaster
Pumps have been put to over the years.

Applications
Agricultural:
Dairy Farming - spreading cow shed wastes back onto pastures
through an irrigation nozzle. Effluent is an excellent form of fertiliser.
Piggery - shifting the pig effluent and wastes away either
irrigated back onto the pasture or into settling ponds.
Poultry Effluent - shifting chicken effluent from the sheds
to screens or direct application to the field.
Industrial:
Abattoirs and Freezing Works - shifting slaughter board wastes
including blood, offal, trimmings, legging papers, meat trimmings, fat.
Chemical Plants - shifting and mixing chemical products.
Stainless Steel shafts and impellers can be fitted to handle acids.
Chicken Abattoirs - shifting feathers, feet, offal and whole
reject birds.
Dairy Industry - shifting waste products from the factory
to ponds or fields.
Food Processing Factories - shifting wastes and washing fluids.
Fish Industry - shifting fish heads, tails, skins and offal.
Quarries and Mines - shifting flood water, gravel and coal.
Sewage Treatment Plants - shifting comminute and raw sewage
Sawmills - shifting sawdust away from the plant.
Wool Scourers - shifting the wood washings away from the
scouring plant.
Coal Mines - shifting coal from the mine face to the point
of delivery.
General:
Where there is a combination of slurry waste and solids and water,
then a Yardmaster will shift it efficiently and economically without a
major clogging problem.

Yardmaster Construction
and Principle
-
The non-clog impeller partially macerates soft materials so that solids
will not pass into the line and cause blockages. The Yardmaster will
also pump solids such as sand and gravel with ease. The pump is also
self-priming and can be run dry.
-
The Deflecting Shaft can move up to 15mm either side of the centre which
allows the impeller to "walk" over obstacles until they are cleared.
-
The small model Yardmasters have a By-Pass that agitates the liquid
and solids around the pump head so that the solids are continually taken
up with liquid. The By-Pass also functions as a secondary inlet whilst
the impeller cuts away the lumps which may temporarily have obstructed
the main flow. Fluid velocity in the line is maintained.
-
The Heavy Duty Bearings above the liquid level. The feature makes
them trouble free and long wearing.
-
The Motor is supplied mounted on top of the pump, away from any moisture
or obstruction. No special fittings or guards are needed. Pumps
can be provided for belt driven, hydraulic, air, petrol and diesel power
drive.
